Checked against Bahamas.com, the Bahamas Digital Arrival Card portal, and Bahamas BEATS pages on October 4, 2026.
The Bahamas remote-work recordkeeping problem now has two parts.
First, The Bahamas announced a Bahamas Digital Arrival Card pilot in May 2026. The current Digital Arrival Card portal says visitors are required to complete a Digital Arrival Card and warns that submitted declarations cannot be edited.
Second, the BEATS program page describes a remote-work and study permit process with Immigration review, a QR code on entry, a one-year permit length, and possible annual renewals.
Short answer: keep the arrival card record, the entry date, the permit dates, the QR confirmation, insurance evidence, employment or student documents, and every Bahamas arrival and departure. Digital paperwork does not remove the need for your own timeline.

What is the Bahamas Digital Arrival Card?
Bahamas.com announced the Bahamas Digital Arrival Card pilot on May 5, 2026.
The announcement described a pilot phase where selected visitors could complete entry documentation online before arrival. It said the system functions as both an immigration card and a customs declaration, and that the traditional paper process would remain in place during the pilot and evaluation period.
The current Digital Arrival Card portal is worded more broadly. It says all visitors to The Bahamas are required to complete a Digital Arrival Card, and that one arrival card is needed per family.
Treat that difference as a source-freshness warning. For planning, use date-stamped wording:
- the May 5, 2026 Bahamas.com release announced a pilot
- the current portal may show broader operational wording
- travelers should check the current official portal before travel
Do not assume an old paper-process memory is still enough. Also do not assume the Digital Arrival Card fully replaced every paper or officer-led process for every traveler unless the current official source says that at the time you travel.
What should you record before submitting the arrival card?
The Digital Arrival Card portal gives one very practical warning: review your information before submission because once submitted, you can no longer edit your declaration. Incorrect information may delay entry processing.
Before submission, keep a private checklist:
- passport name exactly as shown on the passport
- passport number
- passport expiry
- citizenship
- country of residence
- arrival date
- accommodation or local address
- family members included on the card
- declaration answers
- confirmation email or QR record, if issued
This is not about making the form complicated. It is about not discovering a typo when you are already at the airport.
What is BEATS?
BEATS stands for Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay.
The official BEATS FAQ describes it as a one-year residency permit for professionals and students from overseas to work or study remotely from The Bahamas for up to one year.
The BEATS "How it works" page says the online application is reviewed by Bahamas Immigration. Approval can take up to 5 days. After approval, the applicant receives an email for payment. After successful payment, the applicant receives a confirmation QR code to show on arrival.
The page lists:
| BEATS item | Official page says |
|---|---|
| Application fee | $25 application fee |
| Permit length | 1 year |
| Processing | an officer will approve or deny within 5 business days |
| Work permit fee | $1,000 for the head of household and $500 for each dependent |
| Study permit fee | $500 for each applicant |
| Entry proof | confirmation QR code after successful payment |
Do not read "up to 5 days" as an approval guarantee. The official page says an officer will approve or deny the application.
What documents does BEATS ask for?
The BEATS "How it works" page tells applicants to have these ready:
- valid passport data page
- medical insurance card
- proof of employment for remote-work applicants
- student ID for remote-study applicants
The FAQ adds that students applying for remote study may need evidence of enrollment in an accredited learning institution and proof of sufficient funds to cover living expenses and return travel.
If you apply, keep the documents in the same record as your permit dates. A year is long enough for email threads, QR codes, and scanned files to disappear into different folders.
How should remote workers track BEATS dates?
Start with the dates that do not move:
- application submission date
- approval email date, if approved
- payment date
- QR confirmation date
- permit issue date
- permit expiry date
Then track the dates that change as you move:
- first Bahamas arrival under the permit
- inter-island moves, if you need a personal record
- any departure from The Bahamas
- any return during the permit period
- renewal application date, if you apply again
The FAQ says the BEATS permit expires 12 months from the date of issue, and applications for annual renewals will be considered for a maximum period up to three years. It also says there is no minimum length of stay required.
That does not mean you should ignore day counts. If you want a clean record for immigration questions, insurance records, tax review, or your own planning, keep the timeline.
What should you avoid assuming?
Avoid these shortcuts:
- "The Digital Arrival Card is editable after submission."
- "The May 2026 pilot wording tells me the current portal does not apply."
- "BEATS approval is guaranteed in five business days."
- "A QR code replaces every other travel document."
- "No minimum stay means no date records matter."
- "Jetseen can submit Bahamas forms for me."
The safer workflow is boring and useful: use the current official portal, save the confirmations, and track the dates yourself.
