Checked against European Commission and Albania Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs sources on July 5, 2026.
Albania does not count toward Schengen 90/180 days because Albania is not listed as a Schengen country by the European Commission.
That does not make Albania a Schengen reset button. Schengen uses a rolling 180-day lookback. Earlier Schengen days remain in the calculation until they fall outside that lookback.
Short answer: track Schengen and Albania as separate clocks.

Is Albania in the Schengen Area?
No, based on the European Commission Schengen Area page used for this guide.
The Commission describes the Schengen Area as 29 countries: 25 EU Member States and four non-EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.
Albania is not in that composition.
That means a day in Albania should not be entered as a Schengen country day in a Schengen 90/180 calculation.
Does Albania reset your Schengen days?
No.
Leaving Schengen means you stop adding new Schengen days while you are outside the area. It does not erase Schengen days you already used.
The European Commission says short stays in Schengen can be up to 90 days in any 180-day period. That 180-day window rolls. Older Schengen days remain in the lookback until enough time passes.
So Albania can be time outside Schengen. It does not wipe your Schengen count clean on arrival.
What are Albania's own 90/180-style rules?
Albania has its own rules.
The Albania Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs says a Type C visa gives the right to enter and stay in Albania for 90 days within 180 days from first entry.
It also says a Type D visa is issued to an alien who intends to reside in Albania for more than 90 days within 180 days, where the applicable visa or residence-permit path requires it.
Do not turn that into one blanket rule for every traveler. Nationality, passport, visa status, and current official rules matter.
Are Albania days and Schengen days the same clock?
No.
The numbers can sound similar, but they come from separate systems.
| Clock | What it tracks |
|---|---|
| Schengen 90/180 | Short-stay days inside Schengen countries |
| Albania stay record | Albania entry, exit, visa status, and local stay limit |
Treating Albania as Schengen creates bad records. Treating Albania as a reset button creates another bad record.
The cleaner answer is two clocks, exact dates, and current official sources.
How should you count a Schengen and Albania route?
Keep separate records for each area.
Example:
- 72 days in Schengen
- 21 days in Albania
- next planned Schengen trip
The 21 Albania days are not Schengen days. But the earlier 72 Schengen days still matter until they fall outside the rolling 180-day lookback.
For the Albania file, keep:
- Albania entry date
- Albania exit date
- visa or visa-free basis, if relevant
- official source checked
- planned return date
- professional advice, if your status is unclear
Exact dates beat rough trip labels.
What should travelers avoid assuming?
Avoid these shortcuts:
- "Albania is in Schengen."
- "Albania resets my Schengen counter."
- "Albania's 90/180-style rule is the Schengen rule."
- "All travelers get the same Albania allowance."
- "Jetseen shows official Albania immigration balances."
The useful habit is simple: log Schengen and Albania separately, then plan future travel from the actual dates.
Where Jetseen fits
Jetseen includes built-in Schengen 90/180 tracking. It also supports trip records, custom rolling or calendar-year trackers, alerts, trip simulation, document attachments, and CSV export.
Albania is not listed as one of Jetseen's built-in rule types, so use custom records rather than assuming Albania-specific immigration automation.
A practical Albania setup:
- use the built-in Schengen tracker for Schengen countries
- log Albania as a separate trip record
- create a custom Albania tracker if your own review threshold requires it
- simulate future Schengen trips before booking
- attach Albania visa or entry-status records where relevant
- export CSV records for personal or advisor review
Jetseen can help you maintain the record. It does not grant permission to stay, access official Albania immigration balances, or replace immigration advice.
If Albania is part of your Europe route, Try Jetseen Free for 14 Days and keep the Schengen and Albania clocks separate.
