Nepal tourist visa tracking involves more than one date. You may have a visa source, an issue date, an entry deadline, a stay period, an extension record, and a 150-day ceiling in the same Jan-Dec visa year.

Short answer: track at least four separate records. Save where the visa came from, the day you entered Nepal, the 15, 30, or 90-day stay shown on the visa or on-arrival record, and your cumulative tourist-visa days for the Jan-Dec visa year. If you extend, keep the extension record beside the original visa record.

What Nepal tourist visa dates should you separate?

Do not put every Nepal tourist visa date into one note and hope it makes sense later. Separate the records.

RecordWhy it matters
Visa sourceOn arrival, Nepali mission abroad, or another official route
Issue dateImportant for mission-issued visas and application records
Entry dateNepal Immigration says the stay is counted from entry
Granted stayThe 15, 30, or 90-day period shown on your record
Extension dateThe date and length of any approved extension
Visa-year totalCumulative tourist-visa days in the Jan-Dec visa year
Exit dateThe date that closes the trip record

That split matters because the visa issue date and the day-count start date are not always the same thing.

What is the difference between visa source and stay length?

Nepal Immigration describes tourist visas as available on arrival and from Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad.

If you get a visa from a Nepalese diplomatic mission before travel, Nepal Immigration says you must enter Nepal within six months from the visa issue date. It also says your total stay is counted from the day you enter Nepal.

That creates two records:

If your visa was issued before travelTrack this
Visa issue dateThe date shown by the mission-issued visa
Latest entry timingSix-month entry window, checked against the official source
Actual entry dateThe day your stay count starts
Actual exit dateThe day your Nepal stay record closes

If you receive a visa on arrival, your main tracking problem is different. You need the arrival date, the stay period granted, any extension record, and the actual exit date.

What are the 15, 30, and 90-day Nepal tourist visa records?

Nepal Immigration lists tourist visa entry options of 15 days, 30 days, and 90 days. The Nepal Tourism Board also describes multiple-entry tourist visa options for those periods.

For tracking, the exact fee is less important than the dates. Fee amounts can change, and this guide is about records, not payment planning.

Use a simple table:

FieldWhat to save
Visa typeTourist visa
RouteOn arrival or mission-issued
Passport usedPassport number and expiry date
Entry dateDate stamped or recorded at entry
Stay period15, 30, or 90 days, based on official record
Reminder dateA date before the stay ends
Exit dateActual departure date

If your issued visa record gives a specific date, save the record. Do not replace it with mental math.

How does the 150-day Nepal visa-year ceiling work?

Nepal Immigration's visa fee and document table says tourist visa extension is up to 150 days total per visa year, Jan-Dec.

That is a cumulative record. It is not the same thing as a single 90-day visa.

For example, a traveler who uses 30 days in March and 90 days in September has 120 tourist-visa days in that Jan-Dec visa year before any other Nepal tourist stay or extension. The next extension or trip should be checked against the remaining visa-year total, not only the latest visa sticker or entry record.

Use this table:

Visa yearEntryExitDays usedRunning total
Jan-DecTrip 1Trip 1 exitAdd actual daysRunning tourist-visa total
Jan-DecTrip 2Trip 2 exitAdd actual daysRunning tourist-visa total
Jan-DecExtensionExtension endAdd approved daysRunning tourist-visa total

Keep the government source check date with the record. Nepal visa pages can change.

What should you record for a Nepal tourist visa extension?

Nepal Immigration lists tourist visa extension under the tourist visa row and ties extension to the 150-day total per visa year. Nepal Tourism Board says tourist visa extension can be handled by the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

This guide does not give extension strategy. Extensions are not something to guess at from old forum threads.

For your own file, save:

  • previous visa record
  • passport used
  • extension application date
  • extension approval record, if approved
  • new allowed-until date, if shown
  • cumulative tourist-visa days in the Jan-Dec visa year
  • official source checked and check date

Avoid assuming an extension is guaranteed because you applied before expiry. Use official sources and qualified advice before making plans around an extension.

What documents should stay with the Nepal visa record?

The Nepal Immigration visa-fee and document page lists tourist visa document requirements that include a valid ordinary passport, previous visa if any, and supporting documents.

The Nepal Tourism Board tourist visa page also says tourist visa essentials include a valid passport, passport-size photo, visa fee, and application form. It points travelers to the online visa application route.

For day tracking, keep a plain folder:

  • passport identity page
  • passport expiry date
  • visa application receipt or barcode record
  • visa issue date
  • entry stamp or entry record
  • extension record, if any
  • exit stamp or departure record
  • source page checked and check date

Do not rely on a screenshot without a date. That is exactly how old visa information survives long after it should have been replaced.

What about the online visa form receipt?

Nepal Immigration's visa information page says the submission receipt with barcode is valid for 15 days. The page tells travelers to bring the printed receipt or barcode to acquire the visa.

That receipt is not the same thing as a tourist stay count.

Track it separately:

Online form recordDay-count record
Form submission dateEntry date
Barcode receipt validityGranted stay period
Passport usedExtension or exit deadline
Payment record, if anyActual exit date

The form helps with the visa process. Your day-count record starts with the actual entry into Nepal.

What should you avoid assuming?

Avoid these shortcuts:

  • "A 90-day visa means I can ignore the 150-day visa-year total."
  • "The visa issue date is always the day my stay starts."
  • "The online form receipt is the same as permission to stay."
  • "A previous extension means the next extension will be approved."
  • "Jetseen can tell me whether Nepal will grant entry or an extension."

Jetseen can keep dates, reminders, notes, documents, and CSV records organized. It is not a visa service, government authority, tax advisor, legal advisor, or immigration advisor.

Use Jetseen as your record layer:

Keep in the visa fileKeep in the day tracker
Passport usedNepal entry date
Visa sourceGranted stay length
Issue dateDeparture reminder

If you make more than one Nepal trip in the same Jan-Dec visa year, keep the running total visible. That is the number people lose track of when they rely on scattered email confirmations and old passport photos.

Nepal tourist visa checklist

Before travel, save:

  • passport expiry date
  • official Nepal Immigration page checked and check date
  • visa route, such as on arrival or mission-issued
  • visa issue date, if issued before travel
  • planned arrival date
  • planned exit date
  • online form receipt, if used

During or after travel, add:

  • actual entry date
  • granted stay period
  • extension record, if any
  • actual exit date
  • cumulative Jan-Dec tourist-visa days

That gives you a travel record you can review later without rebuilding the trip from memory.
